Our Manifesto: Universal Values, Human Rights and Academic Integrity
The International Journal of Interdisciplinary Research (IJIR) is more than an academic journal. It is an intellectual space committed to the dignity of the human being, the freedom of thought, the ethical production of knowledge, and the universal values that make scholarly work meaningful for humanity.
We believe that academic publishing must not be separated from conscience. Knowledge is not only a technical product; it is also a human responsibility. Every article, every review, every editorial decision and every published idea carries an ethical weight. For this reason, IJIR stands for a form of scholarship that is rigorous, transparent, inclusive, humane and socially responsible.
Our Commitment to Human Dignity
IJIR affirms that human dignity is the foundation of all intellectual and academic life. No research, theory, method or publication practice should violate the inherent worth of any person or community. We support scholarship that protects human dignity, deepens mutual understanding, and contributes to a more just, peaceful and thoughtful world.
We welcome academic work that examines the human condition with seriousness, sensitivity and intellectual courage. We believe that the university, the journal, the researcher and the reader all belong to a wider moral horizon: the responsibility to understand the world without harming it, to question power without reproducing injustice, and to produce knowledge without silencing the vulnerable.
Human Rights and Universal Values
IJIR is committed to the universal principles of human rights. We support academic inquiry that defends freedom, equality, justice, dignity, peace, inclusion and the right of every person to live without discrimination, oppression or fear.
We stand against all forms of racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, xenophobia, gender-based discrimination, hate speech, cultural exclusion, colonial violence, social marginalization and structural inequality. We believe that scholarship must remain open to diverse identities, cultures, languages, histories and ways of knowing.
Our journal supports research that contributes to intercultural dialogue, social justice, democratic values, ethical communication, equal access to knowledge and the protection of vulnerable communities.
Children’s Rights and the Protection of the Vulnerable
IJIR recognizes children’s rights as one of the most urgent moral responsibilities of our time. Children must never be treated as objects of exploitation, neglect, ideological manipulation, digital exposure, economic abuse or institutional indifference.
We support academic work that protects children’s dignity, privacy, education, development, safety and emotional well-being. We also stand for the rights of refugees, migrants, displaced people, minorities, elderly people, disabled individuals and all communities whose voices are often unheard or misrepresented.
A journal that speaks about humanity must also speak for those whose vulnerability is too often hidden behind statistics, policy language or academic abstraction.
Women’s Rights, Feminist Thought and Gender Equality
IJIR affirms the importance of women’s rights, feminist theory, gender studies and all scholarly approaches that examine inequality, representation, power, embodiment, identity, labor, language and social justice.
We believe that feminist thought has made an indispensable contribution to contemporary scholarship by revealing the visible and invisible structures through which injustice is normalized. IJIR welcomes research that critically explores gender, patriarchy, care, violence, voice, memory, body politics, intersectionality, cultural representation and the lived experiences of women and marginalized communities.
Gender equality is not a secondary concern for academic life; it is one of the essential conditions of intellectual honesty.
Academic Freedom and Freedom of Expression
IJIR defends academic freedom as a necessary condition for genuine scholarship. Researchers must be able to ask difficult questions, challenge dominant assumptions, examine contested histories and produce critical knowledge without fear of ideological pressure, political intimidation or intellectual censorship.
At the same time, we believe that freedom of expression must be practiced with responsibility. Academic freedom does not justify hate speech, discrimination, humiliation, fabrication, manipulation or the violation of human dignity. True intellectual freedom requires both courage and ethical discipline.
Ethical Publishing and Academic Integrity
IJIR is committed to ethical publishing, academic honesty and editorial responsibility. We reject plagiarism, data falsification, image manipulation, citation abuse, ghost authorship, purchased authorship, duplicate submission, peer-review manipulation and all forms of academic misconduct.
Every manuscript submitted to IJIR is expected to respect the principles of originality, transparency, proper citation, methodological clarity and intellectual accountability. We believe that the credibility of academic publishing depends not only on what is published, but also on how it is reviewed, evaluated, edited and preserved.
Our editorial process is guided by fairness, confidentiality, academic merit and respect for disciplinary diversity.
Editorial Independence and Fair Peer Review
IJIR values independent editorial judgment. Editorial decisions must be based on scholarly quality, ethical standards, relevance, originality and contribution to knowledge, not on nationality, gender, institutional status, personal connections, political position or financial influence.
We are committed to a fair and responsible peer-review process. Reviewers are expected to evaluate manuscripts constructively, respectfully and professionally. Authors are expected to engage with criticism in good faith. Editors are expected to protect both academic standards and the dignity of all participants in the publication process.
Peer review, at its best, is not an act of gatekeeping; it is an act of scholarly care.
Open Access and the Right to Knowledge
IJIR supports open access because knowledge should circulate beyond closed institutional walls. We believe that serious research must be visible, reachable and useful for scholars, students, educators, independent researchers and the wider public.
Open access is not only a publishing model; it is also a commitment to knowledge equity. It allows research to travel across borders, institutions, economies and languages. IJIR supports the responsible circulation of academic work in a way that strengthens global scholarly dialogue.
Interdisciplinarity and Intellectual Pluralism
IJIR was founded on the belief that the most important questions of our time cannot be answered by one discipline alone. Human life is complex; therefore, research must be open to complexity.
We welcome work from the humanities, social sciences, communication, education, cultural studies, psychology, media studies, literature, gender studies, political thought, philosophy, history, language, arts, ethics and related interdisciplinary fields.
Interdisciplinarity is not a decorative label for IJIR; it is the intellectual heart of the journal.
Digital Ethics, Artificial Intelligence and Research Responsibility
IJIR recognizes that digital technologies and artificial intelligence are reshaping research, authorship, education, communication and public life. We support responsible academic engagement with digital transformation, data ethics, algorithmic bias, online harm, privacy, surveillance, media manipulation and the ethical use of artificial intelligence.
We expect transparency in the use of AI-assisted tools where relevant, and we reject any use of technology that misrepresents authorship, fabricates evidence, manipulates peer review or undermines academic integrity.
Technology must serve knowledge, not replace responsibility.
Financial Transparency
IJIR believes that academic publishing must be financially transparent. Article processing charges, when applied, are not defined as a profit-making mechanism, but as a means of sustaining the ethical, technical and academic publication process.
Publication-related fees are used only for the necessary expenses of journal operation, including manuscript registration, editorial management, DOI and Crossref services, digital infrastructure, website maintenance, archive systems, production processes, indexing-related technical work, administrative support, and, where applicable, reviewer or editorial labor honoraria.
We believe that financial clarity is part of academic integrity. Authors, reviewers, editors and readers have the right to know that publication fees support the sustainability of the journal and the quality of the publishing process.
IJIR rejects exploitative publishing practices, hidden charges and any model that treats academic authorship merely as a commercial transaction.
Our Responsibility to Society
IJIR believes that academic journals have a responsibility beyond publication metrics. A journal must not only ask how many articles it publishes, but also what kind of intellectual world it helps to build.
We are committed to scholarship that deepens understanding, protects human dignity, encourages ethical debate, supports marginalized voices, resists injustice, strengthens academic integrity and contributes to a more humane global conversation.
We do not claim that scholarship alone can repair the world. But we believe that without honest scholarship, the world loses one of its most important instruments of truth, memory, criticism and renewal.
Final Declaration
The International Journal of Interdisciplinary Research stands for human dignity, human rights, children’s rights, women’s rights, gender equality, academic freedom, ethical publishing, open access, financial transparency, editorial independence, intercultural dialogue, peace, justice and responsible knowledge production.
We invite authors, reviewers, editors and readers to join us in building an academic platform where knowledge is not separated from conscience, where publication is not separated from responsibility, and where research serves not only careers and institutions, but also humanity.
This is our manifesto.
This is our commitment.
